Trips

Well we are back from Ohio. It was so amazing. Ohio is so green and beautiful I cant wait to move there! We found some land that we are looking into buying so when we are ready we can build on it. Its in the perfect place. We are gonna try talk him down though because he is asking a little much for the 2.1a . Spending time with Matts family was so nice, specially since they live so far away Leaving was so hard for both of us. The drive home was horrid. We hit severe thunder storms horrible rain and a snow storm. I dont know if we will ever drive to Ohio again lol. At least the dogs were awesome. Great car dogs besides the fact lebron has a bad ear infection and I left his ear meds here at home :( Now we are home till next Thursday then its off to Oregon for 4 days for my brothers wedding! Im so excited to see my family! This summer we have been truly blessed to get a trip to Australia, Ohio to see all of Matts family, and Oregon to see all of mine!

Cant let him go

Well Matt has been back from Iraq for a month and a half now and to tell you the truth I thought I was gonna be ready for him to go back to work specially since he had off 2 weeks for r and r and for his surgery then he went back to work for a week but only for a few hours a day because of his knee. Then we went to Australia for 10 days. SO really I thought I would be ready but he went back to work Monday and I get so needy when he leaves. I just hold on to him because I dont want him to go. I feel like when he leaves that he is leaving to go back to Iraq even if its just to the store. Not to mention I have been having dreams the past few days and in them he leaves me! I dont know whats going on. I am supposed to be relieved he is back at work so we can get back to our normal lives... but Im not. I mean I enjoy my alone time because I get things done but its the worse when he is leaving or about to come home... I just sit and wait for him looking out the window! I know its because he was away for so long but I hate feeling so needy! Maybe it will calm down after our trip to Ohio.. we will see Good news is as of right now he is not deploying with the squadron in January like we were told!!

Australia

Well I figured I would post about our trip since I have been home for a few days now! It was really amazing. Australia was absolutely beautiful. Even if it was cloudy it was still hot because of the humidity. We spent 5 nights in Port Douglas right across from the beach. We stayed in a hotel that was more like an apartment with a kitchen living room and everything. Our deck over looked the pool it was great. My favorite thing there was when we went on the 8 hour cruise to the Great Barrier reef. It took an hour on boat to get there then we hung out on this platform. We got to go snorkeling had a great lunch and even went on a helicopter ride over the reef! It was awesome to get to see it from above. Also while we were in port Douglas we went to a place called the habitat where we walked around with kangaroos, wallabies, and emus. It was so awesome to get to touch and feed them! I even got to hold a koala! They had some cool shops and we walked around and went to a flea market and went to the beach of course! After those 5 nights we flew to Brisbane where we stayed down town. It was a bit colder there. Down town was a typical city. We went to Steve Irwins zoo the first day which was by far the best zoo we have ever been too! It was huge. We got to feed elephants and more kangaroos! The last day we went to an island called Tangalooma. It was really beautiful there. We went sand tobogganing and feed wild dolphins in the ocean and went kayaking! It was a good way to end our trip. I had such an amazing time with my husband! Now its back to work for him for a week and a half after a much needed break. Then we are off to Colorado for a night or two then to Ohio for a week and a half! So excited! I really need these next week and a half to recoup.. jet lag is killing me and I have so much to do!

Its been a while

Well I havent actually posted on here in a while other then a few short posts. Its been busy around here with Matt home. We got his surgery done right away so he is still recovering from that. He went back to work today but only for a few hours a day until our trip. This next week will be nothing but packing, getting thing ready around the house for the guy who is watching the dogs and house and Matt PT appts and work. Of course I need to get my butt back in the gym to tone up a tad since I have lost the tone in my stomach since I have to actually cook for Matt now that he is home, not to mention eating out at the places he missed. Im so excited for our trip and to get out of this crappy weather. I will miss my dogs, my house, and of course the new car but its going to be so much fun. I still need to buy a few outfits since I didnt find much when we went last week.
Today I am thankful Matt is only working a few hours a week. I was kinda excited for him to go back so I can get things done but he has been gone for and hr and a half and Im bored out of my mind lol

To the Military Wives

Military Wives

I would like to recognize these often underestimated, unseen, and unheard heroes.

This is for the sad Military wives, the angry Military wives, and the strong Military wives.

This is for the young women that are waking up at 6 a.m. every
morning, laying out clothes and packing three lunches for those
small precious children that they have been left alone to care for.

This is for the pregnant Military wife wondering if her husband will make it home in time to watch their miracle happen.

This is for the childless Military wife, living in a town or on a
base alone where she is a complete stranger to her surroundings.

This is for the women that feel like a third leg when they go out
with their friends and their husbands.

This is for the Military wife that cancelled all her plans to wait by
the phone, and even though the phone broke up and cut off every time you spoke to him you waited anyway.

This is a pledge to the women that cry themselves to sleep in an
empty bed.

This is to recognize the woman that felt like she was dying inside
when he said he had to go, but smiled for him anyway.

This is for those of you that are faithfully in that long line at
the post office once a month, handling 2 large boxes and 2 small
children like a pro.

This is for that woman that decided to remodel the house to pass
time, and then realized that she had no idea what she was doing and sighed and wished she had a little help.

This is for all the lonely nights, all the one-person dinners, and
all of the wondering thoughts because you haven't heard from him in days.

A toast to you for falling apart, and putting yourselves back
together. Because a pay check isn't enough, a body pillow in your
bed is no consolation, and a web cam can never compare.

This is for all of you no matter how easy or hard this was for you.
Our soldiers/sailors are brave, they are heroes, but so are we.

So the next time someone tells you that they would never marry a Military guy, don't bother explaining to them that you can't control who you fall in love with. Just think of this and nod your head, know that you are the stronger woman.

Hold your heads up high, hang that flag in your front yard, stick
100 magnets on your car, and then give yourself a pat on the back.

Be proud to be the woman that you are, be proud to be a Military wif

Project Gratitude Day 30

I am thankful for another day down!! My husband comes home soon!

I am thankful for the rain.. man I love the rain.

Today I have to get some of Matts favorite snacks in the house. He wants to go to the commissary with me the day after he gets back which I just love. i love it when I catch him sneaking in a couple packs of cookies or I get to the checkout and notice he snuck in so much junk food and there he is with a big smile on his face. I have missed that. So Im happy he told me to just get a few things for the house so he can come too. I miss having him pick out the meat! LOL I hate picking out steak. After that, if the rain clears up, me and Tricia are hoping to get out with the dogs and her boys to possibly go for a nice long walk. LeBron is grounded from the dog park till daddy gets home ( unless I cave in tomorrow) and so I need to take him on a walk.
That makes me think.. I am also thankful for Tricia. She is becoming a great friend to me.

My list of todos is almost finished! This is sooo soo exciting. Im hoping Matts stuff gets here today so I can wash it and have it put away before he comes home.

Dinner, but not at the Dinner table

So im sitting here eating and I relaize that since my husband has been in Iraq I have not sat at the dinner table more then maybe 5 or 6 times to eat. I have this new beautiful expensive table that isnt being used at all. I eat sitting on the kitchen table, at the computer desk, in bed, and in my living room. Now I cant stand when people eat anywhere but their dinner table.. IDK thats just me. I always set the table and we ate at the dinner table so why I started this in the new house with our new table while Matt was gone IDK but what I do know is that this will not continue when he gets home! I think its just because eating at the dinner table, alone is depressing. It makes you realize your alone, that your husband is far away and wont be with you for a long time.. dinner time always made me think about that so dinner time was always the worse time for me during the deployment. Eating at the table alone just put it over the top. SO I avoided it. Sometimes avoiding dinner all together. I will be glad when my husband is home so my expensive table gets used finally!

Project Gratitude Day 25

Will you give this to my daddy?

Will You give this to my Daddy?

As a Company, Southwest Airlines is going to support 'Red Fridays.'
Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed One of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As t......hey began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering.
When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and Cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our Service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi...'

The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her...

The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second... Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it..

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.'

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.

As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.

Top Two Tuesday

Top 2 Things you've learned about relationships

Trust: In order to make a relationship work you must trust the one whom your in the relationship with. Trust is one of the most important things specially in a marriage.
Selflessness: You must be selfless in a relationship. Give your everything to make the other person happy, that way both of you will be looking gout for each other. I make sure my husband is happy and I try to give him the world. In return he does the same, that way we are both living a happy and wonderful life together.
I will be starting top two Tuesdays now every week!

Getting back into the 'Wife' Routine

So we arent too far off from the day my husband gets home from Iraq (yayyyyyyyy!!) I was sitting there looking at my list of things I have to get done as it quickly is getting shorter, because well Im excited. I then started thinking about all the 'wife' duties I havent really needed to do because I have been living like a bachlorette for over 6 months. I dont cook unless I want to so most of the time dinners consist of doritos, a bowl of ice cream, or my favorite: nothing! I sit and watch lifetime movies all day or whatever else I feel like with no worries about having to fight with anyone over the remote. I  rarely wear makeup unless Im going out somewhere important. I live in Matts basketball shorts and shirts that are too big. I shave only when Im going to the doctors, because thats the most action I have gotten in 6 months. Me and the dogs take up most the whole bed. My stuff has taken up the whole bathroom and well I am up all through the night because I cant ever sleep and sometimes I lay in bed all day long only moving for food and to go to the bathroom lol. All that has to change thats for sure. Starting next week Im going to have to cook actual meals everyday for dinner and breakfast, I have to share the tv unless I want to be in separate rooms as my husband, I should probably shave more then once a week and wear decent clothes to sleep in so Im somewhat attractive to him, I have to share the bathroom and our bed, and clean up after 2 which with him home is ore like cleaning up after 4. My vacation was fun now its time to but on the wife hat and do what I was made for! I wonder how long it will take me to get back on track and remember farting is not something my husband wants to hear hahahaha jk

Project Gratitude Day 22

I am thankful that my husband puts up with me when Im grumpy and we talk through everything!

Hes Coming home right?

So why is it that I miss him more?? Arent I supposed to stop being sad and be happy because I can see it. I can see the date, its almost here! I miss him more then I did yesterday and more yesterday then I did the day before. I am an emotional roller coaster. One second Im happy Im giddy and antsy, I cant sleep because Im so excited. Its so close we are making plans counting down the days doing our last this and last that before he comes home. The next second Im crying, I miss him, my heart yearns for him. I miss his smell, his kisses, his touch.. gosh I miss his touch. Then I feel nervous. Nervous to not be alone anymore, nervous to have to take care of someone else.. but the nervous feeling doesnt last long before Im back to feeling giddy or sad. I can feel it, I just know that the second I see him step off that plane and we are embraced in each others arms once again for the first time in over 6 months I will just let it all go.. all the stress of everything I have gone through. My surgery, each sickness, each doctors appointment, moving, money, cars, dogs, family. Each task I took on alone that should have been taken on together. And Im embarrassed to say the anger. The anger toward him for wanting to deploy and the anger toward the military for making him go, for taking him away from me for far too long. The time I needed him, wanted him the most. I will let it all go. I will be crying because Im happy and thankful that he is home, that he is safe, but I will be crying because I can just let it all go. I dont have to do it anymore, not alone at least. He is home and we will be a couple again. Growing as a couple, taking things on as a couple. And that is something to cry tears of joy over. To being with the one you love, the one god made just for you, so you dont have to face things alone.

Its true, that deployments will make or break a couple. Weather your dating, engaged, or married, It will make or break you. This deployment made us. We mate it through the hardships of everything and came out a better, stronger couple. That right there is something to be proud of.

Dear Deployment: We kicked your ass!

Project Gratitude Day 20

I am thankful for another week down and not much longer to go!

While hes away

So Im sitting here thinking about all the things I had on my to-do list for while Matt was deployed such as read all these books, go to the gym everyday and a million other things. Now we are weeks away from his return and I have done just about none of them lol. We do that, us military wives. We make list after list of things we are going to do when our men are away and then while we make our todo list of things to get done right before they come home such as hair nails clean tan  we realize that we have done none of the things on our original list. Why is that?? I just dont get it lol I dont get how I had six months to come home to an empty house go to sleep alone wake up alone cook for one and yet I had no time to get the things I wanted to done. I know that its not just me. I have spoken with many wives whos husbands are also deployed with mine and they say the same thing. Well its too late now. There is no way Im going to finish that list of books in two weeks, there is no way Im gonna be able  to do the other things I wanted to get done while doing my more important to do list, and thank goodness I really didnt need to lose any weight because that for sure wouldnt happen in two weeks! So here I am going to put the list away and pull it out next deployment which Im sure by that time I will have added to it and of course wont get a darn thing on the list done. I guess its good I just know this is how it is and how it will always be :)

Project Gratitude Day 19

I am again thankful for my amazing husband. He is just wonderful. He says the most wonderful things to make me feel like the most important thing in this world. He can make me laugh when I want to cry he relaxes me when Im stressed and he makes me smile every time Im with him.I truly am giddy to know that he will be home with me soon.

When I was being nice ad asked how he was he stated " Well I could be better but I pulled you over". He then asked me how my driving record was in California. Why does he need to know this? He then asked how it was in Idaho.. Wht does that matter.. cant he tell by looking up my info? After that as he was walking away I said to myself my husband is going to kill me. He steped back said "where is he"? I said Iraq he said "I dont care if your husband is in Iraq" the why did you ask?? And you are an ungreatful son of a B. My husband is in Iraq fighting for YOU and YOUR dumb ass job and you are here being rude and giving his wife a ticket? "That homecoming kiss definitely does not mean happily ever after "

"It does mean, though, that we can finally move on to start ever after. And that is something."

This made me think of the topic of reintegration.. We just had our squadron reintegration meeting a few nights ago. Those of you who have not gone through this, its a meeting to explain what to expect when they get home. Every wife who has not gone through this before thinks that its going to be nothing but a fairy tale, but those wives who are seasoned know different. As we sat in this meeting the SGT who was doing the breifing asked for a raise of hands for those who were bringing family in for the homecoming. Only two women out of the group raised their hand. Now this subject can be touchy. It really matters what your husbands relationship is like with their family. One woman said she was surprising her husband with a big family reunion. YIKES as we all listened to her tell us this you hear loud gasps from each and every spouse there. She is a brave woman. Other wives have lists of planned events for their husbands. This is crazy These men have been in Iraq for 6+ months working hard. they are jet lagged and tired They want to relax, be home, wind down. Now me on the other hand our 'to do list' is a must and my husband knows this. He has surgery less then a week later so there are things that have to get done before hand. Not to mention he wants to be on the court everyday. But he will have pretty of time to relax when he is on the couch after surgery.
Anyways so yes this reunion is going to be so amazing. Seeing him walk off the plane, having him next to me when I wake up cooking more then a pb&j every night. But there are also things that are going to be not so easy to deal with. My laundry load is going to triple, there will be no left overs for when I dont feel like cooking, the xbox will take over my downstairs tv, I will constantly bee picking up after more then myself, I have to make room for more then the dogs in the bed, my shower schedule will change from whenever I want to whenever he doesnt need it, my bathroom will go from spotless to his stuff scattered around the sink, my closet im sure will be rearranged to the way he wants. I have to remember he has never been in this house. He will come home and not know where anything is. He might even get a little frustrated at this. He will take down and put things the way he wants which Im sure will irritate me since I worked so hard to make it the way it is. Im sure furniture will be moved at one point or another, and he will have something to say about how the electronics are set up.
Every reintegration will have its hardships. Some might not be as hard as others and we will always look back and possibly laugh at the little things that stressed us out. In the end he is home with me and safe at least for the moment and I will take all the hardships that come with that.

Project Gratitude Day 17

I fly my flag to support my military husband and his job doesn't end when the sun goes down or it rains...

I read this on a friends profile
Someone was saying it was disrespectful to leave your flag out in the rain or at night and so on...one ladies response was I fly my flag to support my military husband and his job doesn't end when the sun goes down or it rains...
I totally agree with this. Although my flag is not up yet because I moved and am waiting for my husband to get home to drill the holes and such but I will fly my flag always because just as this lady stated I will fly it to support my military husband and his job doesnt end when the sun goes down or it rains...

Well this one is easy. I miss my amazing husband who has been in Iraq for far too long. But I am happy to say that he will be home soon!! I cant wait!

You know the deployment is over when:

-you start to shave your legs again.
-you get to bed before 2am..
-you use more than the
microwave to cook
-you trip over boots left in the
middle of the hall
-the laundry load triples!
-Your king size bed suddenly feels small
-You are eating a full course
dinner every night
-you can't find the remote
-the cell phone is no longer
a vital accessory
-there are strange-smelling ABUs and PT
gear in your laundry room
-the TV seems to be stuck on either
Spike TV or ESPN
-the garage suddenly becomes a place for
social gatherings
- it is no longer necessary to buy stamps in
bulk, or hoard flat rate boxes
-the closet you finally got cleared out
is in shambles again
-you go to make the bed and there is someone
else in it besides
the kids or the pets
-the alarm has suddenly been
readjusted to 5am
-you don't eat leftovers anymore because
there are none
-computers are no longer a lifeline
-the postmaster no longer recognizes
you by name
-Your answering machines no longer say "If
this is _______ I love you!!!
--suddenly you have little hairs
all over your sink
-When you stop buying groceries with instructions
such as "Heat on high for 90 seconds
and stir"
-You have to check the toilet seat status before
using it at 3am

Project Gratitude Day 15

Today I am so so thankful that it is March! The month I have been waiting for for far too long.

I am also thankful for the things I have to do outside of the house today to keep me busy.

Day 29:

A Picture that can always make you smile.

This is a picture of my amazing husband. All pictures of him make me smile but this one is the one I keep next to my bed. I have always fallen in love with his smile and this picture shows his REAL crooked smile perfectly. It doesnt matter what mood Im in this picture will do it for me. I cant wait to see that smile again THIS MONTH when he steps off that plane!

Its down Hill from here. or is it uphill??

Well here we are the LAST part of this deployment. The very tiny little but that is left in this six months of hell the deployment. Now of course I cant give dates but as you will be able to tell by my post its pretty darn close!! So here I am making a list of things that must get done before Matt comes home. Now remember I moved into base housing after he left so he has yet to be in our home. So there is tons to get ready to insure he loves it since well this is our first home together! So my list goes on and on and of course it feels like I will never get it done, then I get started and get so excited that I do so much in one day that there isnt much to do to keep me busy that last week. Then of course that last week comes and I remember a million other things not to mention getting my personal self ready and looking hot for my man!! Oh and I guess I got to remember the mental readiness I need as well. I mean after all I have been on my own for 6+ months in a home he has never been in raising the children dogs on my own and all those fun things so yes of course I must prepare myself mentally! So here is my list of things to do for this last less then a month time left I have:

*Organize the closet
*Make room for him in the closet
*Make Room in the bathroom for him :)
*Rearange the garage
*Unpack, wash, and put away his things he sends home ( woooo cant wait cuz this means its close!)
*Organize our dresser from when I moved and kinda messed all his stuff up ( sorry babe :0)
*Pick of poop from the back yard at the last possible moment because I know he will be out there with the dogs like alll the time
* Get him a new tire for his car
* Clean the house over and over so its perfect
* Give the dogs a bath nail trim the works so they are pretty for daddy
* Give myself a bath, nail trim the works so I can look pretty for daddy bahahah
* Tanning of course because Im a pretty white half Hispanic woman right now
* Gym Gym Gym Gym yikes!
* Get his favorite snacks in the house
* Clean Trail Blazzer
* Nails done ( maybe)
* reintergration meeting
* Make welcome home sign of course!
* Confirm his surgery which happens too soon after he gets home booo
* dont get fat :)
* Teeth whitening woo woo
* any squadron events or planning meetings that come up
* try and keep sane
* and of course keep all my spouses and parents Im in charge of updated on when they come in which will be crazy enough!!!

and this is all while taking classes and I believe my finals are right around there too.. Yikes!

BAHHHH thats all I can think of now but of course I know there will be a million I forget and freak to get done in the last minute before he gets home. Man oh man though a I excited!! Let the countdown being!!!

Project Gratitude Day 12

Today I am thankful for Nyquil. Im not sick but I needed something to help me fall asleep. Last night was the best nights sleep I have gotten in about a week, probably longer.

I am also thankful that the Cavs won last night :)

Day 26:

A Picture of Something that means a lot to you

This was right after we got engages so of course the wedding band isnt on it and I didnt feel like taking another picture :)

Project Gratitude Day 11

I have had a rough few days. No sleep due to nightmares and stuff.. So today I was in bed all morning and was really a mess. I finally got up outta bed because I needed stuff at the commissary. Well i threw my hair back barely but any makeup on and had my husbands sweat pants and shirt on so clearly I looked like a scrub. By the way I NEVER go out of the house like this ever. Well while at the ommissary an older man probably retired AF stopped me and said I had the most amazing dimples and we talked for a tiny bit then later on he came to me because he needed an ink pen totally tuned my day around.

So today I am thankful for the few old people who say things that brighten up your day. Thanks guy who ever you were.

Oh and Im also thankful for Ice cream.. that always makes a bad day a little brighter :)

Day 25:

A Picture of your day

Today is NOT a good day so honestly I will be doing nothing what so ever other then running to the commissary to get milk. I will probably move from my bed to the couch for a few hour to watch my DVR and then back to bed to be sappy lol
What better picture to represent being lazy other then this one!

Military Spouses Friday Fill in

  1. Aside from no deployments, what is one thing you would want to make the MilSpouse life “perfect”? That my husband had a 9-5 job not a possibly 6am possible earlier if he gets a call and he gets off maybe at 5pm maybe not if they decide to keep him hours later and possibly getting recalled through the night or weekends
  2. Just how many peppers did Peter Piper pick? hmmm I have no idea
  3. If you could have any career in the world with nothing holding you back, what would you do? Honestly it would be teaching if not a teacher a physiologist I would love to help people
  4. Do you have a service oriented tattoo and if so what is it. If you don’t what would you get? I dont have one and prolly never will but if for some reason I did I would get two hearts intertwined in the middle one cammo one pink. If not that I would get dog tags wrapped around my ankle going down over my foot. But like I said I wont ever get one
  5. Imagine a block of time has opened up in your busy day for you to take a class in anything you like. What subject would you choose?a foreign language

Project Gratitude Day 10

I am thankful for lavander spray and a decent nights sleep for once

Day 24:

A Picture of something you wish you could change

I wish we could be closer to family. Particularly closer to Matts family. I love my family dearly but I have never been super close to them not to mention my family is scattered across 3 states. Matt has always been so so close to his mother and the rest of his family. I would give anything to be close to his family and have our children raised so close to family. I know how much living in Ohio means to Matt. I cant wait till we are there for good.
