Guest poster!! Gifts for dad!!!

Its Christmas time!! yay!!! We love this time of year... no scratch that, I love this time of year. M probably hates it because I worry too much about what gifts to get everyone, and I spend too much money on buying them.

Now that MJ is in our lives, it makes it easier to shop. First of all, kids are so easy to buy for. They love everything ( well at this age he does). Then when it comes to the Grandmas, and Great Grandparents its easy!! They LOVE gifts from their grandson. You know the ones I'm talking about, the I love Grandma pillows and Grandmas Kitchen signs. They eat it all up. When it comes to the Great Grandparents, pictures will do. They love little pictures of their Great Grandson. Easy!! Christmas shopping done! Wait, not yet! There is still dad and Grandpa to shop for! They aren't so easy. They are practical. They like practical gifts. They don't want a t-shirt that says we love grandpa. They might wear it and tell you they love it, but it will quickly turn into their weekend housework shirt. If your like me, you always have a hard time shopping for dad, Grandpa, or what ever men there are in your life! Well that is where this post comes in handy!! I have been in contact with someone who will be our guest blogger today!! She has written a fabulous article/shopping guide for that man in your life!

Check it out!

Gifts for Dad

A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail. This holiday season get him something that he deserves. Forget the standard industrial package of socks and check out these ideas that will bring him comfort and joy for the coming year:

 Leeway Jeans, howies, $120

Get your fashion conscious teen Leeway Jeans from howies and he’ll be forever grateful. This U.K. brand has just become available in the States so he’ll be ahead of the pack. Don’t be fooled by their slim shape- these jeans are made for play. With amazing Powerstretch Denim they have enough give for some serious hijinks.

Double-Duty Punching Bag, Blue Ribbon General Store, $36

Let him work out some angst while picking up his socks. This hamper-turned-punching bag can hang in his closet and roll with the punches. Or hang it from the ceiling and let him go all Rocky Balboa on it. This addition works as both an indoor and outdoor featured piece.

Interactive speaker, MoMA Store, $38

Take music with you everywhere you go. Sometimes it can be hard to hear your devices without headphones but no more. Simply place a smartphone on top to amplify the sound. It works off three AA batteries or a USB connector.

Boulder Hat, Stetson, $99

Give your Dad extra protection from the elements in this classic trapper hat. Stetson hats are an American legacy, known for their quality and craftsmanship since the “Boss of the Plains” premiered in1865. This waxed cotton trapper with convertible ear and chin flaps will help him weather the winter.

Personalized Whiskey Barrels, Uncommon Goods, $75-$200

Let your dad open his own distillery at last. These personalized miniature oak barrels age spirits to its peak flavor just the full-sized versions the professionals use. The small size means the oak flavor is infused quickly. Once the liquor is perfectly aged he can enjoy a glass straight from the tap.

Barrel Matured Maple Syrup, Tuthilltown Spirits, $35

Speaking of barrel aged goodness, this incredibly rich maple syrup from the ancient orchards of Quebec will take Dad’s already-legendary pancakes to the next level. Tuthilltown Spirits is a specialty distillery in the Hudson Valley. They mature the syrup in their signature charred American oak barrels to give it an oaky richness and just a hint of raw bourbon flavor.

Outback Jacket, howies, $220

Splurge a little on a jacket he’ll wear nearly every day of the year from the outdoor experts at howies. This U.K. brand has just become available in the States and it provides unparalleled gear for doing whatever he loves in the Great Outdoors. The Outback jacket has Merino wool bonded fleece on the inside to wick away moisture and a water and wind resistant outer soft shell. He’ll stay dry inside and out all year round.

Bubble Copter, Think Geek, $40

Who said toys were just for kids? He’ll have entirely too much fun running special ops around the house with this remote controlled helicopter that also shoots bubbles. Be warned: your mom and his dog may never forgive you for this.
